Crafty time on a rainy morning...

American Girl fun

A few weeks ago we had a fun girls afternoon downtown Chicago at the American Girl Place store and cafe. Pictured below is Katie & Sam, me & Alicia, and Mandi & Kaylee

 

After some shopping we treated the girls to a meal at the American Girls Cafe, so they could have a special experience with their new baby dolls! It was such a nice and quiet meal, the girls did such a great job. No meltdowns or anything, they all acted like little grown-ups for the most part. It was really nice for the girls to get away from their younger brothers and the daddys for an afternoon full of fun.

 

A special birthday treat for the girls! They each got their own little candle on top of their dessert to blow out.

 

Mommy & Alicia with her new "little Alicia" doll. Alicia was very excited to be able to get a doll with similar hair color of hers, plus being able to get her doll glasses to match her pair was even more unique. To top it off, she HAD to get a kitty that resembled Tanner for her baby to have a pet as well.

Who ever saw one of these before? Alicia thought it was very interesting.. we thought it was a nice purse hook at first, and then realized and read the thing and it was an official "doll holder" in the restroom. Seriously they thought of it all at this place. crazy.

I was in the kitchen and Alicia was dying laughing in living room so I thought I better look.. And I found this. She was like "it's prince tanner mommy!"
Very amazed that Tanner let her do this to him. Awesome.. Lol.

eye doctor update

Late last year, Alicia's pediatricians noticed her eyes were slightly crossing at one of her check-ups and they suggested we see a pediatric eye doctor. So off we went to the opthamologist to get her eyes checked. After a few sessions back and forth with the doctors, debating on surgery vs glasses, we finally decided on getting her glasses to see if the eye crossing would correct itself in a few months. In late January, we went glasses shopping.... and in February we got some new glasses to try out for a few months.

This last month, we went back into the eye doctor's office to get a check-up to see how the glasses have been treating her. You know, we have the "I don't know where my glasses are," or the "I can't find them" conversations, but for the most part, she keeps them on. The doctor was very happy to see that her eyes have improved about 50 percent already! Her eyes are training more and not crossing as much with the use of her glasses for the close-up vision, but not for the far away vision yet.  So now we have to work on that for next few months, and if it doesn't correct, we are probably looking back at the surgery route later this summer.

Alicia's eyesight is good enough that she doesn't need the glasses to improve her vision, so that is great news. Her glasses are truly just for training her eyes to act how they should. So come later this summer/fall, Alicia may not even have to wear glasses if this all works out... So we'll keep you all updated on her eye progress!
