happy 9 months...

Happy 9 months, Alicia! I think in the next few months, she'll be conquering the world, so watch out! The last few days she has really started to hold herself up better, and it looks as if she is just a few upgrades away from the crawling model :)

playdate

Alicia had a fun playdate and I had a great mommydate with my friends Nicole and Jenny on Tuesday afternoon. Jenny hosted us over to her place where the kids could play - present was Jenny's nephew Noah and her daughter Reese, Nicole's son Roger and my Alicia! I think they had a pretty good time, as all were ready for naps by the end of the afternoon. It was cool to see how close these kids are, but so much difference in like these months are so much practically like dog years with their abilities... pictured Noah-11mo, Roger-12mo, Reese-3mo, & Alicia-9mo.

ice, snow, wind, more ice, rain, and more snow

That statement above was about our weekend went in Iowa this last weekend. Lots of snow, wind, rain, and ice. That combination made one big mess on the roadways, and well, great snowmen-making weather. So, we all went outside to enjoy mother nature's wrath and made the best out of being homebound and stranded in Iowa. We went back for a late Christmas gathering and well we got our white Christmas... thanks I guess...

the latest Alicia update isn't too exciting, other than she is really really clingy... and only wants to be with mommy or else she flips out! lots of crying is not fun..

is it spring yet?

The sun has been beaming through the patio door for the last few days and it does is make me so ready for spring... Alicia loves the sun, Tanner loves the sun, and gosh darn it, I love the sun too... it just seems to make things better. not sure if it its warmth or just the brightness it adds to a day, but either way it is, I sure miss Mr. Sunshine... so I'm putting in my call right now to Mother Nature for spring...
Alicia was trying to figure out what Tanner was doing...yes, that's Tanner hiding out in that bottled water container...he's not stuck in it, he goes in there by himself and he loves taking naps in it.

Happy Fat Tuesday

Well Alicia wanted to celebrate Mardi Gras, but I told her no to traveling to New Orleans to party, no to eating jambalaya just yet, and no to drinking all of those fun alcoholic drinks; so instead she decided to dress up in costume. (this was her Halloween costume that she wore and that now finally fits her!!)

Alicia fell asleep on the living floor and it had quite the resemblance like when her daddy falls asleep. On her tummy, all spread out taking up as much room as possible, too cute...

happy 1st birthday to Roger

Alicia's little friend, Roger, turned 1 a couple of days ago and we celebrated his birthday yesterday! Roger loved his cake, frosting, and of course, the presents! The party sure wore Alicia out yesterday, she slept great all night long, so I am hoping for a repeat performance tonight... and I guess the reason for no blog last night, was that I've heard that when a sleeping baby sleeps-you take advantage of it... So all I can say it was sure nice to get some uninterrupted sleep last night. thanks Alicia!

so nothing too new today, other than Alicia has really been wanting a lot of attention and wanted to be held a lot...kinda reminded me of the early days. Here's a photo of her when she was like a day old and the other was today... she may be a smaller than a lot of others her age, but wow, she has really grown a lot.

Well, I believe we had unfortunately hit another milestone in Alicia's journey. Alicia, aka the princess, the diva, and the now momma's girl, has reared a side of her that I have never seen before until tonight. When we went to the fitness place, where we have gone with Alicia many times before, tonight she was different. The minute I handed her off to the girls at the nursery she had a fit! The girls that work there always love her, as they hardly ever have any problems with her, or if it is, it is usually hunger related and they can solve it with a bottle. Well today, nothing seemed to solve the tears streaming down her face, pouring out of her little eyes today...except you guessed it- mommy... It took us a few minutes more that normal to make the successful hand-off, but we eventually got to it... so I guess we have hit that new chapter called, separation anxiety.

snow day

Early this evening we went outside for a quick peek to see how much snow we got; I don't think it was as much as they originally forcasted, but it was still enough to make a big mess out there. Drew and I can't wait until Alicia is old enough to enjoy and play in the snow as much as we do. :)

Who said you can't sleep standing up? One minute Alicia was awake and happy in her jumperoo, the next minute I looked over at her and she was sound asleep. Too cute...

Elmo, will you be my valentine?

Elmo has captured Alicia's attention that is for sure.. this morning Alicia was busy as can be playing with her blocks on the floor and all of a sudden she's really quiet and she just stops everything.. I look over at her and guess who is on tv... yep - Elmo. It is only the Elmo's World section during Sesame Street that really captivates her. Not sure what it is, but that furry red guy sure knows what makes her happy.

Get your motor running...

Last night we went to visit Tomi and Chad, and it was the first time for Alicia to get some miles on her walker in another place other than our quaint little home... oh boy, did she have fun! Alicia did pretty good, she was having a bit of problems with the steering, but she definitely knew where the gas pedals were (Flintstones style :) Tomi helped Alicia get straightened out in the long stretches, as Alicia's walker is not equipped with power steering just yet... she needs to keep eating those Wheaties for that model...

Alicia is giving Tanner a back rub....well it eventually turned into some hair pulling.. but surprising enough, Tanner didn't mind and Alicia was all smiles. (don't worry, kitty time is very supervised to all of those inquiring minds)

Alicia's Big Exploration

In the last week or so, I have seen Alicia become very inquisitive while in her walker. She has really become a lot better in what I'd like to say "tinkering" around in her walker. As I hear her little pitter patter of her bare toes on the pergo floor, she has begun her exploration of the kitchen and dining room area. For the first few trips in her walker, she just took everything in and pretty much only played with the toys on her walker, those toys are now mostly just decoration as there are much better things to look at since she can now maneuver her walker around better. It has opened a whole new world to her. She loves the patio door area where she can look outside and run her fingers through the vertical blinds and the newest thing is she likes to admire herself (or that other cute baby) she sees in the oven door, and of course, there is that garbage can, where everyday I put it in a new place so that she won't run into it or try rummaging through it, but she always seems to find it in one corner or another... anyways, to close, it really is amazing just to sit back a bit and watch her explore.

Thank goodness for the freezy pop!

Well, today was better than yesterday. Alicia was still a bit crankier than normal, but atleast she was being a better trooper today. :) Last night it seemed like the only thing that helped her was a pedialyte pop. Here's Alicia finding some calm in the storm yesterday... she was so cute, with the tears still fresh in her eyes and the redness in her cheeks, she took charge of her popsicle and wouldn't let us help. By the way, Grandma Karen the Motrin seemed to help her sleep better too last night, as she only woke up once at like 4 am, so it was a pretty decent night of sleep. Thanks :)

yucky day

some days I think Alicia is like the weather... today it is cold, snowy, and gloomy out- and, oh boy, does her attitude reflect it inside... she has been a bear all day... maybe it is because of the snow/cold weather or maybe she is finally getting those dreading teeth in we've all heard about, or hey maybe it is just me and she's ready for daddy to come home from work to get some daddytime.... ah... some days I wish I was a mind reader, as who knows how her little mind works...

We've made a decision - we're ready for spring training...

In a packed crib this afternoon, Alicia and her Cardinal pals met in an emergency meeting to discuss the awful turnout of the Chicago Bears last night and they all came to an executive decision... they are ready for the spring training to start now. With only about 9 days left before pitchers and catchers report, Alicia is ready to cheer on her St. Louis Cardinals.

Well I'm all ready to cheer on the Chicago Bears. Daddy & I have been practicing our touchdown and incomplete signs all season long, but I don't think I'm ready yet for the big game... so we'll see if all the practice can pay off. :)

Brett Favre is coming back

The rival still continues for mommy and daddy... mommy and her beloved Brett & the Packers and daddy and his superbowl Bears! For today, it is yeah Brett... check me out tomorrow for some Bear's cheer.
