Alicia and her lego Advent calendar

Alicia and her Lego Friends Advent Calendar. so far it's been a hit. She seems very excited and we'll have to take a picture of her and the new "friends" later as she begins to build the pieces as they arrive each day.

Cousinhood of the traveling dress

So the beauty of family is you get to pass down some of your clothes with them. lol. Alicia has been all about that lately, she thinks it is cool to hand down stuff to her cousins or donate stuff that we've outgrown or no longer play with to other families that are in need. Thankfully, she has been awesome at donating stuff lately, and not all upset when it is time to purge stuff, as we get in preparation for the holidays. Ok, so side story, you all know the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants story, book, movie, etc, well we have our very own here with the Kluesner cousin girls. But I like to call it the Cousinhood of the Traveling Dress.

First Alicia wore the dress when she was about 1. Yeah, we know she was a peanut, as I'm pretty sure this dress wasn't a size 12 months, perhaps Michelle you can fill me in here :-)  but it still fit her, and it was a fairly long dress on her still, it wasn't a mini skirt or anything ;)

new artwork for their room

Meant to post this a while back, but right before school started Alicia and Ben made some canvas paintings for their room.

This one was painted by Alicia.

Both kids did pretty good, and loved the activity so much that earlier this month, Alicia wanted to do another painting for their room, so I said she had to do it as a joint effort with Ben. They both did nice sharing the canvas and actual sat fairly close next to each other without any big meltdowns from either one.

Below is their combination artwork, with Ben mostly on the left side, and Alicia focused on the right side.

 

New artwork for kids' bedroom

It's another Alicia and Ben original. The other day Alicia was home from school, the kids wanted to paint. I had an extra canvas so they had a blast making their own masterpiece together. Alicia worked on the right side and Ben worked on the left side of the canvas.

Alicia's retelling of the Big Pumpkin Story

Alicia came home from school super excited today to show me her puppet show. She did an amazing job retelling the story of the Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman. If you have never heard of it, see the links here, as it basically sums up what Alicia did in her play. The video is about 5 minutes, so maybe sit back eat a piece or two of candy and enjoy. Alicia was very proud and really wanted to share her video, so I said I'd post it for family and friends to watch.

Goebberts with friends

In a recent trip to Gobbert's pumpkin farm with friends, Alicia was thrilled to get to finally go through it with her friends, Carl and Hannah. It was a beautiful fall evening, so the kids got to really enjoy the nice fall weather and visit all of the animal tents, mazes, and more fun. Ben did NOT like the pumpki-eating dinosaur there, while Carl and Alicia were picking the prime viewing location for the pumpkin feast. If I recall years ago, Alicia did not like the dinosaur either, so maybe next year Ben will appreciate it more.

It was a nice day for a pony ride!

The other day when Alicia didn't have school we went for a quick trip to the pumpkin farm to check the stuff out . We couldn't sneak away without a pony ride tho, those are her favorite!

An evolution of princess drawings

Just on probably the last few months, Alicia's drawings have been evolving nicely. Just this morning before she left for school she drew a new princess. I was looking at a few of her older ones here (all probably done in last 6 months) but you can see she is changing her style. Now the princess has eyelashes and more details in her dress and hair. Very nice Alicia!
