Happy 3rd Birthday, Alicia!

Hooray! Alicia turns 3 today.. The time has flown, she's growing up on us. For your nostalgic enjoyment, here are a couple pictures of Alicia through the years.
I was going to put a link on here from our original "birth" story of Alicia, but I don't believe I have ever recorded it, which makes me sad now, so I think that will be a post in the near future when I have more time to write... so for now, enjoy the pictures! Happy 3rd Birthday Alicia! We love you!!

jammin'

The other night Lucas and Carl were over visiting Alicia and they were having their own little jam session in the kitchen. Alicia and Carl have really taken a liking to a band called "They Might Be Giants." They sing some Disney songs, and a lot of other pretty cool kids songs. Yes, mom and dad's out there, they are a pretty tolerable kid music band to listen to. Here's a video of Alicia and Carl and Lucas singing their best to the Number Two song. Next time we'll try and get them to sing more...but they are getting the gist of it...

"i want that..." "up dere"

The other night Alicia and I were outside playing when Drew got home from work. It was pretty cute because Alicia pulled out her swing and starting saying her favorite phrase lately.. "I want that" and points. Lately we've been trying to push her and make her say what "that" actually is. We know it is challenging, so we'll try and help her out and have her point or show us what she sees so we can put the words with it before she has a meltdown cause she can't get the words out. But this time she did great, and first she said"I want that" and we said what and she replied with "up dere" and pointed... It was awesome, as I was actually trying to get a picture of the first part of her dragging the swing over to the chain, but instead I got this cute one instead of her pointing to daddy where she wanted her swing.

Yes, success! Swing time!! and yes, she's happy, she's just screaming her head off in excitement here.

morning at the park

The other Friday, Alicia had a playdate with her friend Roger and his little brother, Bruce! Nicole and I had a nice time catching up as it had been over a month or so since the kids had a playdate. Alicia was very excited to see Roger, as I was telling her in the van that we were going ot meet Roger and Bruce at the park. The minute she got out of the van, Roger met her in the parking lot and the two were off running running around together and playing nicely actually. There was no fighting, pushing, or crying until we had to leave. Then the kids were like super glue stuck on the playground! Alicia was being very cute, er.. or should I say authoritative at times with Roger... she was like "Roger- come here" "where'd Roger go" "Roger, now" "Roger sit, Roger swing" it was everything Roger, this, Roger that.. very cute, but man, she is a pushy little one! I'm glad Roger didn't mind playing nice and coperating with all of Alicia's beckons and calls :)

Also, this was one of the first times that I saw Alicia climb up a rope ladder and be able to climb up this spring looking thing. (its the middle picture in the bottom row) She also was able to make it up the big ladder to the "fun" slide this year all by herself holding on to the railing. It was awesome! She would have never been able to do that last summer or fall even.. she really has been working hard lately and not giving up as easy! way to go Alicia.

sure... now she wears it...

When we were in Disney World, Alicia had nothing to do with the ears we bought her. I totally wanted a cute picture of her in her Mickey ear hat while on vacation there... go figure she didn't want to wear it when mommy asked nicely. So I put them in her room on top of her dresser/tv area as a nice keepsake. The other night she was like mickey hat- mickey hat. I was like ok, show me wear it is, since I wasn't sure what she really wanted. I didn't think she even really remembered where I her ears, or the fact that she had a "mickey hat" and had a desire for wear them. So she took me by the hand and pointed up and we found them in her room. Alicia got really excited and wore them for like half the night marching around singing her Disney songs. It was very cute. And I'm glad I was able to snap a few pictures of her in her ears :)
