special card for daddy's birthday today!

I worked very hard on a special card for daddy last night with mommy. I used markers, stickers, and construction paper to make one cool card for daddy to see when he gets home from work today. I even wrote on it all by myself. Mommy only helped me by showing me what happy birthday looked like, and then I copied the letters and wrote it all on the card! I signed it with love from Alicia and Ben. happy birthday, daddy.

Alicia in a locker already?!

Haha... This week we got to go to her grade school kindergarten round-up meeting. During the tour, we were looking around at the classrooms and other parts of the school and got to meet some teachers. At one point, we noticed Alicia could stand up and still fit in a locker there. Haha.. I wonder how many kindergarteners could do that!? :-)
By the way, yes Alicia was in pjs cause she had pj day at preschool that day! How fun is that?!

gymnastics class

This week Alicia started a new gymnastics class. We wanted her to have her own special activity to do this summer, whether it was soccer, t-ball, gymnastics, or swimming. And out of those when we asked her what she wanted to do, she chose gymnastics! So we signed her up for a more advanced class this time for 5 year olds! She had taken other entry toddler tumbling like open gym classes at the park district before, but I wanted her to have a more structured teacher atmosphere this time around. I think it will help her learn more discipline and follow directions better, not to mention help her coordination and her large motor movements. During class, Alicia did a great job listening and following directions from what we could see from the sidelines. After the class her teacher said she was a quick learner and picked up some of the skills nicely in her first session! Obviously she has lots of room for improvement and new things to learn, but we were very happy to see how well she did at her first gymnastics class. We can't wait to see how the rest of her sessions go!

As you can see, Alicia was super excited attending her new gymnastics class!

Stretches to start the class. Alicia has a nice small class with only about 4 girls! Perfect for some one on one time with the teacher.

She also had time practicing v-sits and other techniques on the balance beams.

Alicia was trying out the bars all by herself. One of the skills she had to practice was to hold herself up on the bar for atleast 5 seconds!

the eagle eggs are hatching!!

Alicia has been fascinated with this live eagle feed from Decorah, Iowa the past few days... Hope you get to enjoy it and check it out yourself! http://www.ustream.tv/decoraheagles
Alicia loves having me check in on the eggs to see if they have hatched yet. When we started peeking in on them, the mom and dad bald eagles had been nesting with the 3 eggs and "keeping the babies warm." Supposedly more than 11 million views from over 130 countries have been recorded. That is a bunch of people watching streaming video of the cute bald eagle couple :) Now that is what we call a real "baby story" here, who needs TLC channel and their baby shows! A few cool facts about the amazing eagles...
The eggs were laid in late February. The nest is about 80 feet off the ground, 5-6 feet wide, and they claim it weighs over a ton! The first baby eagles started hatching over the weekend and finally made a cute fuzzy appearance! By Sunday when we checked in, we saw 2 fuzzy eaglets! The link above gives more information and the history of the bald eagle couple too.
