Whatta Crazy Weekend of Activities

I'm not even sure where to start this weekend.... I'm sure Heather will update the blog with smaller stories.. but here's whats been going on with the Kluesners the last weekend.

We then had a crazy weekend which brought us to a various number of places: a company picnic; Colona, IL; Eldridge/Davenport, IA; Lake Zurich, Wrigleyville, and Elgin IL. It was crazy to say the least since we were all over the place.

Colona is where we visited with one of Heather's childhood family friend Rob. It was good to see him again and Alicia enjoyed playing with his puppies Cooper and Brutus.

Next up, in Eldridge, where Drew's cousin lives, we stayed with the Schroeders on Friday Nite.... Alica got to visit her 2nd cousins Amara and Alyssa... and it was a good time.. Alicia and Amara had a blast listening to music and playing various games....they got along great! We had some Happy Joes Taco pizza and some yummy Iowa sweet corn while visiting. To add to the fun, late Friday night, so strong storms rolled through the area, as we got to experience her an extended power outage... it was fun watching Alicia play with a flashlight.

Also Friday nite was the Jr. Bix. Alicia and Amara did great! Amara went first with the help of her mom, and a few helpers from the community. Her training definitely paid off. She's a trooper. Alicia was up after a few more heats... and she just couldn't wait to go... She was lined up... heard the word "go" and took off. Unfortunately it wasn't the right "go"... Mommy had to get our little jump starter.. and after lining up again.. she started really quick again.. then she saw daddy and then essentially stopped. Daddy had to run to the end to make sure Alicia would run and make it to the finish line. It was a good time.

Saturday was Mommy and Daddy's race. Mommy did the 2 mile race with Drew's cousin Amanda, and Daddy did the 7 mile race. Alicia is very proud of her mommy and daddy for achieving all of their goals going into the race. We hope to make this Bix Race an annual occurrence now. Thanks so much to Amara and Alyssa's grandma (Aunt Sandy) for take care of the girls on Saturday while we were able to partake in the race activities!

Saturday Afternoon... we made the trip up to Lake Zurich to celebrate Megan's 1st Birthday! It was a good time to see all of Alicia's friends (Megan, Lucas, Carl, Nicholas, and Ben, and a few new friends). Megan was very excited about her birthday and all the cake and gifts, that she almost walked! Yeah Megan...

here's some more pics from Megan's bday...

Sunday, the Kloss's stopped over to visit. Grandma and Aunt Mary had a party at home with Alicia while Uncle Billy, Jill, Mommy and Daddy went to the Cubs/Red Game.... Alicia really enjoyed seeing Grandma again... and having them have a sleep over and stay was great! We still need to download the pictures from Sunday-Monday, so once we get that done, I'll post a few from that too.

anyways.. that gets us up to date till atleast last monday. I hope you guys enjoyed our marathon weekend of activities as we did.

thank you for those who supported mommy in her race last month!

On Saturday, June 20th, mommy participated in Children's Memorial Hospital’s Race for the Kids 5k Run/Walk to raise money for the patients and families that go to Children’s Memorial Hospital here in the Chicago area. This was mommy's first big run race and we all we very proud of her that she finished the 5K race by running it all and finishing with a time of 32:43, not to mention she helped raise $420 for CMH. Thanks to all our friends and family for supporting this cause.

After mommy's big race, we went to the Shedd Aquarium and enjoying watching the various fish and dolphins and whales and sharks and oh so much more! It was really cool to watch the training shows at the aquarium too, as those guys really know how to jump out of the water and through the air! I think I need to take more lessons from them.

Growing girl

Well I think we have a growing girl on our hands as last night Drew
and Alicia came up to my softball game, and on the way up we got
mcdonalds for Alicia to eat. After the game Drew mentioned to me that
Alicia ate all her chicken nugget happy meal, plus most of my
hamburger! Way to eat Alicia!

In case you've been wondering about her dr apts have been going, after
her 3 year visit one, our pediatrician referred Alicia to pediatric
endocrinologist. A few weeks ago we went there and agreed to do no
more testings for now and was happy to see she was just barely on a
growth chart for height, but still below charts for weight. So the
specialist prescribed her some daily medicine to take that would help
as an appetite stimulant. No hormone treatment or anything like that
at this point, which is good. So far I think her medicine has been
helping some, but we go back in 8 weeks for a another weight/height
check.

lots of family

Oh boy, this is quite an old post, but I'm finally getting around to it! yipes! The end of May, we had a lot of extended family come up to Illinois to visit from several states- Oklahoma, Texas, and North Carolina. It was like a mini-family reunion. We had a good time visiting with all of the cousins and extended family and even hosted a few "hotel/taxi kluesner" for a few nights before the family left for the airport. It was nice getting to see everyone and Alicia got to meet a lot of new cousins! She had a great time playing with them at the park and hanging out. Thanks for letting us visit with y'all while you were in the states!!

Taking some time...

Taking some time to stop and smell the flowers... That's a good lesson
to learn at any age :)

More posts story/pics to come soon I promise!
