gymnastics class

This week Alicia started a new gymnastics class. We wanted her to have her own special activity to do this summer, whether it was soccer, t-ball, gymnastics, or swimming. And out of those when we asked her what she wanted to do, she chose gymnastics! So we signed her up for a more advanced class this time for 5 year olds! She had taken other entry toddler tumbling like open gym classes at the park district before, but I wanted her to have a more structured teacher atmosphere this time around. I think it will help her learn more discipline and follow directions better, not to mention help her coordination and her large motor movements. During class, Alicia did a great job listening and following directions from what we could see from the sidelines. After the class her teacher said she was a quick learner and picked up some of the skills nicely in her first session! Obviously she has lots of room for improvement and new things to learn, but we were very happy to see how well she did at her first gymnastics class. We can't wait to see how the rest of her sessions go!

As you can see, Alicia was super excited attending her new gymnastics class!

Stretches to start the class. Alicia has a nice small class with only about 4 girls! Perfect for some one on one time with the teacher.

She also had time practicing v-sits and other techniques on the balance beams.

Alicia was trying out the bars all by herself. One of the skills she had to practice was to hold herself up on the bar for atleast 5 seconds!

I miss my gymnastic days :( I remember Drew helping me learn the "back-bend" in the back yard.
